How a Check Works

Every representative has a card with a code. You type the code, that person approves with their own PIN, and a code goes to their phone. They read it to you. Only then do we show their name, role and what they may do.

Reading the Result

Confirmed. The organisation named issued this ID, and the person approved this check. Compare the photo and name with the person in front of you.

Do not trust. The code is unknown, expired, suspended or withdrawn. Do not go ahead, and do not share personal details.

What a Check Does Not Do

A confirmed check means the company authorised this person for the task shown. It does not prove ownership of land, goods or anything else.

Mboni is only the app that runs the check. It gives no guarantee about any person or dealing, and it is not liable for what happens between people who use it. See the terms.

If Something Looks Wrong

Think someone is pretending to act for an organisation? Report an impostor.

Your Details

We show the public only a name, role, photo and scope, and only after the code matches. We do not show phone numbers. If you report an impostor and leave a number, we keep it so the desk can call you back.
